This is the story of Sambhali. It is the story of how women and girls are claiming their power in Jodhpur, India. It is also a story about a man from the warrior caste in India who, inspired by the stories of his mother and grandmother, braves the masses in creating an organisation dedicated to fostering women's empowerment. In the conservative city of Jodhpur, and in a socio-cultural context that popularly regards women as property, this is not easy. Today the organization boasts a volunteers and supporter network from all over the world, empowerment centres for women and girls from Jodhpur to the desert of Setrava, "No Bad Touch" workshops impacting almost 3000 students, an SOS hotline for women and girls in need, a scholarship program and boarding home for young girls in need, and self-defence classes, among many other activities.
